Study on the Dust Mite in Korea


Abstract
1. The purpose of this study is to detect¢¥ mites of all species in various places in 1976.
2. Dust mites were collected from the ground surface o i a road and waiting room a bus station. A new method was tested, which was done by means of examining the whole number of mites per one gram of dust. Thereafter, the dust mites were identified microscopically, by the key of Baker and Wharton (1954), Sasa (1956) and Zumpt (1961)
The results obtained were as follows:
1. The total number of mites collected were 309 spp., a belonging to six different families and ten different species. Whole mite index is which means the whole number of mites per one gram of dust.
2. The figures of the mites, as broken down according to families, were as follows. The highest ratio of the mite family is Acaridae, Glycyphagidae and Cheyletidae followed by. Other mites families such as DermanyssiCa3 and Epidermoptidae family of mite were rare. The author found the mite of Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus in this investigation. However, it has never been reported un to present time in Korea.
